Admissions

The overriding principle governing the admissions procedure of the school is the school's equal opportunities policy; there is no assessment or selection process, and no account is taken of gender or ethnicity in determining the allocation of places.

Children with additional needs will be accepted in all cases where any special arrangements necessary can be accommodated. Please see the Additional Education Needs section of the website for further information.

Admission is by a two-stage process:

Registration: where parents supply basic information about their child together with the date from which they are seeking a place and the attendance option required.

Enrolment: where the school makes an offer of a place and acceptance is secured by payment of a deposit.

At times when the number of applications exceeds the number of places available the school maintains a waiting list. Position on the list is determined by the date on which a registration form is received by the school. It is also the case that at times one or more of the attendance options becomes full. When this happens, but a place offer can be made, an offer for an alternative attendance option will be given, together with the opportunity to place the child's name of the priority waiting list for the first choice of attendance option. The priority waiting list, for children enrolled at the school, takes priority over the new admissions waiting list. Children enrolled to pre-school are guaranteed a place in the school's reception year. A deposit payment, in the February preceding the September of transfer to reception, is required.

Pre-School Admissions

Children are admitted to the pre-school in September, January and April. Parents may choose morning only, afternoon only, or all-day attendance for their child. The school is open for forty eight weeks a year, closing only for two weeks in August and usually two weeks at Christmas, and therefore children may attend either for the normal three terms of the academic year or on an all-year basis.

In addition, the school is open from 8am until 6pm each day and therefore parents can choose either the core teaching hours of 9am to 4pm or extended hours of 8am to 6pm. All pre-school attendance options are on a five day week basis, part week options are not available. However parents may select part weeks for extended hours attendance. At the start of each term admissions are spread over the first two weeks of term to ensure a calm and settled environment for all. Specific admission dates are notified to parents when welcome packs are sent one to two months before the start date.

Primary School Admissions

Admission to the primary school usually only takes place in September but, subject to place availability, the school will make every effort to accommodate children of primary school age who move into the area during the school year.

As for the pre-school, the school is open for forty eight weeks a year, closing only for two weeks in August and usually two weeks at Christmas, and therefore children may attend either for the normal three terms of the academic year or on an all year basis. In addition, the school is open from 8am until 6pm each day and therefore parents can choose either the core teaching hours of 9am to 4pm or extended hours of 8am to 6pm.
